Baby’s First Test is the nation’s resource center for newborn screening information for families and healthcare professionals. Baby’s First Test provides educational and family support services information, materials, and resources about newborn screening at the local, state, and national levels.
Baby’s First Test is a leader in newborn screening education, promotion, and training. Baby’s First Test supports newborn screening efforts at the local, state, and national levels by:
- Increasing awareness, knowledge, and understanding of newborn screening for new and expectant parents, health professionals, industry representatives, and the public
- Connecting state and regional public groups
- Facilitating data and resource sharing
- Responding to emerging technologies and public health challenges
- Contributing to advances in newborn screening research
Since 2012, Baby’s First Test has spearheaded an annual national newborn screening awareness campaign. Throughout the month of September, we foster collaboration across multiple sectors, including state health departments and advocacy organizations, to raise awareness for newborn screening. We raise awareness by:
- Creating newborn screening educational materials
- Conducting interviews with key leaders
- Collecting and sharing family stories
